A performance evaluation is a ‘clinical investigation' for an in vitro diagnostic medical device. The documentation requirements are similar to those for Clinical Investigations, except that authorisation to proceed is not required from the Competent Authority. It is advisable to discuss the issue with the chosen Notified Body before starting.
